Introducing the Strathmore & District Practical Ranching School
Strathmore & District Practical Ranching School gives students the opportunity to explore careers in agriculture
Students at Holy Cross Collegiate will be able to earn high school and post-secondary credits while gaining real-world ranching and agriculture experience.
Christ The Redeemer (CTR) Catholic Schools is proud to announce the launch of the CTR Strathmore & District Practical Ranching School, a new learning opportunity for students at Holy Cross Collegiate (HCC).
The program will allow students to complete their regular high school academic courses while also earning credits through Lakeland College that can count toward a Beef Science certificate or diploma. Through flexible scheduling, students will take regular morning classes at HCC and agriculture-related courses most afternoons, including hands-on, off-campus lab experiences at the Strathmore & District Agricultural Society grounds and nearby farms and ranches.
In partnership with the Strathmore & District Agricultural Society and Lakeland College, the program will give students practical learning experience in animal handling, beef production, range and forage, disease treatment, and other ranching skills that reflect the needs of local farm and ranch employers.
Ranching is a viable career option for students in our region and CTR Catholic is proud to offer a program that helps students explore careers in agriculture while supporting the future of the local ranching community.
Students are encouraged to apply early through this Program Application Form
